ORYX GTL has set up a lunch banquet, to appreciate the members who participated effectively in the Project of supplying the school buses with high-specification fuel which is produced by ORYX GTL.

Such Project is one of the commitment of ORYX GTL to implement its strategy to boost the awareness of the benefits of clean fuel eco-friendly, which meets the requirements of the strict international standards in respect of the emissions.

Furthermore, such ambitious initiative had been launched in the frame of close cooperation among the Supreme Education Council, Mowasalat Company‎‏, Qatar Fuel “WOQOD”, Qatar University, and Texas A&M University- Qatar.

Whereas Mowasalat Company provided 20 School buses for schools, 10 School buses was provided with conventional diesel fuel, and the other 10 School buses with ORYX GTL diesel. Qatar University, and Texas A&M University- Qatar were assigned to conduct the analysis, in order to compare the performance of the buses fueled with ORYX GTL diesel with the ones fueled with the conventional diesel fuel.

WOQOD handled the fuel transportation from ORYX GTL factory located in Ras Laffan industrial City to the station from which the school bus were fueled, also it managed the process of providing the buses with the fuel.

In addition, ORYX GTL supplied the GTL synthetic diesel for the Project and conducted several experiments to compare the operation of the buses, environmental impact, and engine wear and tear, through evaluation of the engine oil by local universities, without interruption to the services.

ORYX GTL participated in the 5th International Gas Processing Symposium, Organized by Qatar University’s Gas Processing Center

Under the patronage of H.E. Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, ORYX GTL participated in the 5th International Gas Processing Symposium, which was organized and hosted by the Gas Processing Center (GPC) at Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG).

The theme for this year was “Gas Processing: Opportunities and Challenges”, and ORYX GTL participated in this important symposium as a partner sponsor and  had three presentations which were presented by Marlene Van Vuuren Head of Environment, Pon Saravanan Environmental Specialist, and Venkata Varaha Lead/Panel Operator.

Mr. Ali Abdulrahman Al-Mohannadi, Chief Engineering and Project Officer at ORYX GTL stated in his speech:” We at ORYX GTL are delighted and honored to be participating in the 5th International Gas Processing Symposium, which is part of our CSR’s strategy for supporting the sector’s implementation of sustainability and for showcasing its commitment to the State of Qatar towards achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030”.

Al-Mohannadi also added:” The long-term success of the energy industry shall ultimately rely on cooperation between stakeholders – such as resource owners, technology providers and the academic world – in the advancement and multiparty implementation of solutions to meet customer requirements in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner”.

ORYX GTL is committed to supporting the Gas Processing Centre and Qatar University in an effort to help develop the next generation of scientists and engineers in Qatar. The symposium supports this goal, and also complements our commitment to fulfilling the objectives of Qatar National Vision towards achieving a brighter and more prosperous future for Qatar and its people. ORYX GTL held a banquet dinner, on the distinguished guests honor.

HGM Energy became the first German Energy company to introduce ‘clean’ GTL Diesel produced and supplied by ORYX GTL, directly into Germany.

ORYX GTL is a Joint Venture, formed between Qatar Petroleum from Qatar and Sasol from South Africa with its production facilities based in Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, North of the country’s capital, Doha. The two companies decided to capitalize on their resources; large gas reserve as well as developed infrastructure and experience in the Fischer-Tropsch technology.

ORYX GTL was established in 2000, followed by construction from 2003 and first cargoes being shipped in 2007. ORYX GTL is the first GTL producer to commercialize its products (GTL Diesel, GTL Naphtha and LPG) to the global market.

HGM Energy is an independent fuel distributor established over 40 years ago in the port of Bremen with its own terminal and distributions infrastructure. HGM Energy is a shining example of the ‘German Mittelstand’ companies or unique structure of Germany’s strong sector of small and medium-sized companies, promoted during the Qatar-Germany forum held in Berlin on September 7th, 2018.

Demand for high quality ‘clean burning diesel’, with high cetane, almost no sulfur and limited emissions is driven by public opinion, new legislation and fuel efficiency requirements.

GTL Diesel’s unique nature, resulting from its feedstock, (natural gas), and production process, (FT technology), makes it an ideal diesel grade to fulfill these objectives. ORYX GTL Diesel can be used as a direct replacement for conventional diesel fuels (so called neat applications) without the need for engine modifications and immediately delivers benefits through lowering emissions. It can also be used as a blend in a premium Diesel for different forms on passengers cars, bus fleets, marine, and other applications.

ORYX GTL is proud to support HGM Energy in demonstrating the benefits of GTL Diesel with their customers and partners and looks forward to further developing GTL Diesel in Germany and Europe.
